When is the cellar door open?The cellar door is open Saturday & Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm for wine purchases and tastings. Lunch is served from 12 pm – 4 pm.

What can I expect at the cellar door?Mount Towrong’s cellar door is a two-story space designed for slow afternoons, great conversation, and Italian varietals. The downstairs area offers intimate tastings where you can chat with the team, while upstairs features sweeping vineyard views—perfect for a long lunch. In winter, the wood-fired potbelly heaters make the space warm and inviting, and in the warmer months, the courtyard is the perfect spot for an afternoon with a glass in hand.

What is the Enoteca menu?Our menu is inspired by Italy’s Enoteca tradition—casual wine bars that serve simple, seasonal dishes designed to pair with the wines on offer. Expect house-made focaccia, artisan cheeses, charcuterie, fresh salads, and rotating small plates based on what’s best that week.

Are there vegetarian, vegan & gluten-free options?Yes, we always have vegetarian options, and many dishes can be made gluten-free or vegan. Please let our staff know about any allergies when ordering.

How often does the menu change?The menu rotates every 4–6 weeks, with the seasons and local produce dictating the offerings.

How far is Mount Towrong from Melbourne?We are located in the Macedon Ranges, just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne. The best route is via the Calder Freeway (M79), exiting at Macedon or Woodend.

Which driveway should I take?As you drive up from the road, the driveway splits into two. Stay on the left side and follow the signs to the cellar door.

Which wines are estate-grown?The following grapes are grown at our vineyard in the Macedon Ranges: Chardonnay (planted 1994) Pinot Noir (planted 1994) Nebbiolo (planted 1999) Prosecco (Glera) (planted 2003) Pinot Bianco (planted 2019) Other varietals, such as Vermentino, Negroamaro, and Lagrein, are sourced from Upper Heathcote and Mildura, chosen for their climates that mirror Italy’s best growing regions.

What does ‘minimal intervention’ winemaking mean?Minimal intervention means we let the fruit and terroir speak for themselves. Our wines are unfined, low in sulphites, and fermented naturally.

Can I walk through the vineyard?No, to protect the vines, we do not allow visitors to walk through the vineyard. However, you can enjoy the stunning views from the cellar door and outdoor seating areas.

Is Mount Towrong Vineyard sustainable?Yes, we use organic compost, avoid pesticides and herbicides, and practice low-impact viticulture. Our winter prunings are mulched back into the soil, and all grapes are hand-picked for quality.

Are your wines vegan?Yes, all our wines are 100% vegan-friendly, as they are unfined.

Are pets allowed at Mount Towrong Vineyard?Yes, dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area. However, they must remain on a leash and are not permitted inside the cellar door building or vineyard.
